New Conductor Blog Post series
Aug. 25, 2022 - 2:20PM PT
Follow the latest blog post series where I perform some deep dives into elements of Conductor's design and some of the engineering considerations behind them. The first post examines how Conductor implements the power for its USB-C hub feature and some of the intricate considerations that go into it.

Microfiber cloths are done!
Aug. 20, 2022 - 11:51AM PT
Really happy with how these large microfiber cloths have turned out. The gold foil logo is microscopically adhered to the fabric with heat and pressure, so it shouldn't ever come off even after long term use. Final size is 35mm x 35mm, large enough to make quick work of even the largest screen sizes.
Aluminum flight case samples are looking sweet!
Aug. 15, 2022 - 10:36AM PT
Got pictures of the final samples of the aluminum flight cases from the factory. Two variants were ordered for panels—diamond cut and "rough"—so I can decide which feels the nicest. Really excited to get these in hand!
Bare prototype PCBs are off the printing presses!
Aug. 14, 2022 - 11:12PM PT
The first batch of prototype PCBs have finished all parts of the bare-board process. The next step for them is final component assembly which will take place in the next few days.
Moving to a custom designed microfiber cloth!
Aug. 12, 2022 - 10:43PM PT
After some discussions with external suppliers, I've decided to transition Conductor a custom 35mm x 35mm microfiber cloth with an embossed gold foil logo in the corner. The material is a strong but soft 200gsm suede which is both thick and durable (so no more tears and holes) and also extremely delicate so you can use it for your glasses and monitors.
See the pictures for an example of what the logo would look like in gold foil as well as a closeup of the texture of the cloth.
Sample parts starting to arrive at the assembly house.

Conductor to come with Epsilon switches!
Aug. 12, 2022 - 1:50PM PT
After discussions with our friends over at PrevailKeyCo I'm happy to announce that Conductor will come fully assembled with a small set of Prevail Epsilon Linear switches. With a full nylon housing and a 68g progressive springs, Epsilon switches are some of the nicest-feeling linears these days out of the box and should provide a really great experience for everyone.
Conductor MIDI implementation!
Aug. 12, 2022 - 12:32AM PT
Conductor will ship with a working "MIDI" implementation, with VIA integration, allowing you to use Conductor as a MIDI control surface. A proof of concept has already been fully developed and tested working on MIDI2LR, giving you deep native integration into Lightroom Classic.
The implementation primarily relies on MIDI CC channels and sending a "two's complement" code along with the CC channel, for knobs. This will basically mimic the behavior of traditional MIDI controller's encoders. As well, the twelve keys can be set to any MIDI "note", so you can use it Launchpad style if you want.
Really excited to show off some other cool integrations you can do with MIDI, since many "pro" programs have either native MIDI controller support or support available as an add-on.
PCBs are going through CNC drilling.
Aug. 11, 2022 - 2:28PM PT
The prototype PCBs are currently going through their initial CNC drilling stages before pattern plating while the inner prepreg layers are being prepared for etching.
USB Adapter samples are shipped to assembly fab.
Aug. 10, 2022 - 8:02PM PT
Samples of the high-speed USB-C to USB Type-A Female adapter were shipped from the OEM to the final assembly fab. They should be at the assembly fab in a few days.
Prototype cases are ordered from CNC fab.
Aug. 8, 2022 - 7:30PM PT
3 prototype cases were ordered from the CNC fab in the three different colorways. 18 knobs were also ordered to go with them as well as the custom Damascus badges from a separate supplier.
Aluminum flight case samples are ordered.
Aug. 8, 2022 - 6:34PM PT
Ordered 3 samples of the aluminum flight case and custom foam inserts. While the final case will likely still ship with a "diamond" pattern on the panels, a "sand/rough" panel was ordered to see if I like it better.
